2. Princess Cruises Will Soon Offer ‘Super-charged Internet Connectivity’ on Board

◆ In April, Princess Cruises announced its plans to deliver “super-charged internet connectivity” to all its passengers by leveraging a new constellation of satellites that will launch later this year, offering all those on board the chance to call the world’s oceans their office. This flexible booking option is available for any cruise bookings made through June 30, 2021, on sailings departing through Oct 31, 2021.

3. France Votes to Ban Short Flights Where Train Travel Is Possible

◆ France just took a big step forward in cutting back on carbon emissions released by planes. The country voted to eliminate all domestic flights to destinations that can be reached by train in less than two and a half hours, Reuters reported. Lawmakers in the National Assembly voted on Saturday in favor of the move, which is one part of a larger climate bill that aims to lower the nation’s emissions by 40% from 1990 levels by 2030. The bill still needs to pass in the Senate and lower house before going into effect, the news agency added.

6. United Launches New Routes From U.S. to Croatia, Greece, and Iceland This Summer

◆ Three European cities will be in even closer reach this summer. United Airlines announced today that it will be launching a trio of new nonstop routes: Newark Liberty International Airport to Dubrovnik, Croatia; Chicago O’Hare International Airport to Reykjavik, Iceland; and Washington Dulles International Airport to Athens, Greece. All three seasonal routes are bookable now for travel starting in July — and each is a landmark in its own way.

7. American Airlines Is Bringing Back Beverage Service This Summer

◆ Full beverage service will soon be returning to the skies for American Airlines customers. Passengers in American Airlines’ premium cabins will see full beverage service return May 1 while beverage service in the main cabin will resume a month later on June 1. Alcoholic beverage options, as well as the airline’s buy-on-board food program, will be reintroduced later this summer.

8. France Planning to Ease Travel Restrictions for Vaccinated Americans by This Summer

◆ France will look to welcome vaccinated Americans once again this summer, French President Emmanuel Macron said over the weekend, even as the country remains in lockdown. “The idea indeed is altogether to offer that to the American citizen when they decide to vaccinate or with a PCR test being negative,” he said. “So the idea is indeed to always control the virus, to maximize the vaccination and to progressively lift the restrictions.”
