3. Israel to Welcome Vaccinated Travelers Starting May 23

◆ Israel, known for its robust vaccination program, will reopen its borders to vaccinated tourists in May, becoming the latest nation to welcome visitors who receive the protective jab. The return of international tourists isn’t the only thing to look forward to in May: Royal Caribbean plans to launch a series of vaccinated cruises that month to the Greek Isles and Cyprus from Haifa, open to Israeli residents.

4. Royal Caribbean’s Newest Supersize Cruise Ship Will Make Its Debut in China Next Year

◆ The new Wonder of the Seas ship from the Royal Caribbean is set to debut in Shanghai in March 2022, sailing from Shanghai toward Japan. China is about to become home to the world’s biggest cruise ship. The ship will be able to accommodate nearly 7,000 guests and an additional 2,200 crew members with its almost 2,900 staterooms.

8. New Yorkers Can Get COVID-19 Vaccines Beneath the Famous Blue Whale at the Natural History Museum

◆ New York City’s American Museum of Natural History will become one of the city’s latest COVID-19 vaccination sites later this week. New Yorkers will be able to receive a Moderna COVID-19 vaccine in the museum’s Hall of Ocean Life, beneath the gigantic blue whale model that hangs from the ceiling. Those who get vaccinated at the museum will receive a voucher for free future admission to the museum for a group of up to four people.

◆ A rental-car shortage is currently rippling across the US. Hot travel destinations like Hawaii and Florida are especially impacted by this shortage. Some tourists in Hawaii have found a savvier workaround to this rental-vehicle shortage: rent a U-Haul instead.
